GMAC Bowl Team Welcoming Reception

The GMAC Bowl will host a southern-style shrimp boil at Ladd Peebles Stadium to welcome the coaches and players of each Bowl team, administration, both conference commissioners and their support staff, local and national media representatives, local and national corporate sponsors, Mobile city officials, and invited guests. The Welcoming Reception will be limited to 500 people. Invitation only.



Alabama Army National Guard Battleship USS Alabama Team Luncheon

Each participating football team, traveling party and invited guests will enjoy a lunch on the famous World War II battleship, the USS Alabama. Bowl sponsors, city officials and local media have the opportunity to meet each team's players and coaches, as well as visit this historic Mobile landmark. An estimated crowd of more than 500 people is expected to attend.



Mobile Greyhound Park Media Night

The 50-75 media personalities from across the country covering the GMAC Bowl will be treated to a welcoming reception, dinner and a night of entertainment at the Mobile Greyhound Park.

A special guest speaker will address members of each participating Bowl team, city officials, corporate sponsors and local FCA groups during the breakfast. A crowd of more than 900 people is expected.  Former University of Alabama National Champion Football Coach Gene Stallings spoke in 2009.



Wintzell's Oyster House Wives Day Out

Wives Day Out is a special day for the spouses of the many coaches and conference staffs participating in the Bowl game. The day includes shopping and visits to local historical sites. Lunch is provided by Wintzell's Oyster House and transportation is provided by Colonial Trailways.



Buck's Pizza Players' Hospital Visit

AMF Florida Bowl Bowling Challenge

A special guest speaker will address city officials, media, corporate sponsors, traveling parties of each Bowl team and other guests at a special banquet. NBA All-Star Charles Barkley spoke in 2010.

During the banquet, the GMAC Bowl, along with GMAC Financial Services, will honor "Champions of Life." The Champions of Life honor is given to individuals who have achieved great success through dedication and hard work. They have overcome the many obstacles that have stood in the path of success and have given a great deal back to the community and country.



Greer's Food Tiger Mardi Gras Parade

A Mardi Gras parade will be held in the streets of downtown Mobile starting at 6:30 pm. Sixteen Mardi Gras societies will be represented with floats and throws for the crowd. Several local high school marching bands will join the parade, as well as the bands and cheerleaders from each participating Bowl team. A huge crowd is expected to pack the streets of downtown Mobile for this early rendition of the Mardi Gras season.

Spectronics Fireworks Display and Pep Rallies

Immediately following the Mardi Gras parade, a fireworks display over the Mobile River will highlight the festivities and set the tone for both participating universities official pre-game pep rallies.

MillerCoors Alumni Golf Tournament

A national television audience will tune in to ESPN on Thursday, January 6th, for the 12th Annual GMAC Bowl. The GMAC Bowl has built a reputation of fielding some of the most competitive and exciting games of the Bowl season, including breakout performances by many NFL standouts including LaDanian Tomlinson, Byron Leftwich and Ben Roethlisberger.
