Bay Bank/Harbor Communications/ Merrill Lynch GMAC Bowl Art Contest Award Winners Announced

MOBILE, Ala.- Bay Bank, Harbor Communications, and Merrill Lynch, along with the GMAC Bowl, concluded the second annual GMAC Bowl Art Contest with a banquet on November 14th.

The banquet was held at Naman’s Middle Bay Café Brookley Field and featured students from schools in Mobile and Baldwin Counties.

The contestants were divided into three categories: 6th-8th grades, 9th-10th grades and 11th -12th grades. Judges from the Eastern Shore Art Center and professors from the University of South Alabama’s Fine Art Department selected the top three contestants from each category. The theme for the contest was “A History of Sports in the Bay Area.” The Bay Bank/Harbor Communications/Merrill Lynch Art Contest, presented by the GMAC Bowl, began September 3rd and ran through November 1, 2007.

The winning contestants were presented cash prizes for their schools’ art programs, as well as plaques and gift certificates.

The winning artwork will be showcased in various locations throughout Mobile and Baldwin Counties, including Colonial Bel Air Mall, Mobile Museum of Art, Eastern Shore Art Center in Fairhope and Barnes and Noble at the Eastern Shore Centre. The winners will also be featured in the GMAC Bowl and Coors Classic Basketball Doubleheader programs.

The 9th annual GMAC Bowl will be played on Sunday, January 6, 2008 at Ladd-Peebles stadium in Mobile, Alabama. The game will be televised nationally on ESPN. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. CST.
